hi! remember nothing in this post or series is meant to replace the advice and guidance of trained professionals. this is intense work. often the mundane has to be worked alongside the magical. please consider working with a therapist if you aren’t already. the author of this content is not a licensed medical or mental health professional. subscribing to this blog does not constitute a therapeutic relationship.

TRIGGER WARNING: very brief discussions witnessing / experiencing domestic violence and racism in this post, including other related topics. the reason being that my discussion of what grounding means is going to be from the perspective of someone diagnosed with PTSD and who has struggled with the whole idea of being a human on planet earth. thank you for your attention to this matter!

---

you might be wondering who exactly is writing these posts and what my background is. it is my biggest regret in life that i started on the path of working in corporate in the first place. i regret denying who i really was and am for a paycheck. i write this for a past version of myself who felt stuck. i don’t want anyone else on this planet to feel like i felt.

so my story real quick: i dealt with being abused as a child and witnessing domestic violence in the home, experienced racism at school that neither my parents nor the professionals knew what to do with (i was born a Black woman on stolen land, ie canada). going out into the world i learned it was more of the same and i never really got the support i needed to be navigate through all of it. i started to obsess about the past and decided to take everything that happened personally. yes this was an error, a big one, but nothing else made sense. so the unprocessed trauma turned into depression and a period of quite a few years where i debated taking my own life. don’t worry about feeling sorry for me, i am happily eating at the table prepared for me in the presence of my enemies.

my initial reaction to the idea of “being grounded” was to ignore it with extreme prejudice. i hated being alive on this planet, why tf would i want to do something like be ‘grounded’? sure i didn’t quite understand what it meant, but it sounded like a big ew. and i *especially* did not want to be grounded while i was spending eight hours a day at a job i hated: eeeeyuck!

my intention for this series was to create a resource for people who feel a sense of despair and anxiety when it comes to their day job. before we really get into the topic, let’s call a thing a thing: the systems and the world we know is falling apart and as a collective we are facing a massive unknown. on one level, you may feel this anxiety because you can tell the job you have is not going to last and you’re not sure what you’re going to do or how you’re going to survive. but on a larger level it’s possible you can tell that as a collective we are moving towards a future that doesn’t look like anything we’ve seen before.

and yet, all that doesn’t mean shit for the bills you have today. so you gotta keep going to that same job, dealing with the same people, doing the day to day stuff whilst knowing there’s a big scary thing coming.

this post is not about astrology, but it’s worth it to take a peak at what’s going on right now and for the week ahead. if you don’t want to click the link, it’s Jessica Lanyadoo talking about some ‘groundbreaking, future-altering astrology’ (for the week of Feb 15 - 20, 2026). Lanyadoo offers some strategies for navigating, including the recommendation to “stay with your body”, aka being grounded.

when i noticed grounding practices mentioned in magick and in therapy i put my judgments aside and started touching grass. then turned to the grounding meditations, exercising, listening. it changed the way i saw the world and how i saw my day job. in short, being grounded is how i started to understand the illusions.

here’s a summary of the toolkit:

PROTECTION. corporations protect themselves, you need to protect yourself. here we’re talking about _secrecy_, boundaries, and charming an item.

CLEANSING. any corporate culture lack scarcity mindset shit must be cleansed out of your thinking. you cannot cleanse without protection and you cannot protect without cleansing, so these first two posts go together.

GROUNDING. as someone diagnosed with PTSD from childhood trauma, this one required the help of a therapist because it is and was painful.

SUPPORT. grounding pt 2. loneliness, isolation, when it feels like you have no one.

REBUKE IT. protection and cleansing pt 2. how to create and keep a spirit of rebuke when you need it

PRAYER. protection and cleansing pt 3. corporate culture as constant, communal prayer.
