REBUKE IT
defining the spirit of rebuke · the how · when to rebuke · anxiety and worry · social media and 'hating the job' content · boundaries · popular beliefs · the rebuke at work
people giggle when i say i rebuke something. yea, it’s kind of funny but i think that’s part of its power. in this post i’m going to be specifically talking about something i call the “spirit of rebuke”. it’s a method of shielding that i’ve found has a cumulative effect when used often. in other words, the more you use it the more it works as protection. the “technique” is very simple, it is just saying “i rebuke it“.
a rebuke is a powerful weapon. and yes, i considered changing this to remove any mention of ‘weapons’ or ‘guns’ considering what happened this past weekend. but the truth is the truth. a rebuke is a weapon. it’s a sword. it’s a bow and arrow. it is a guard dog. like any weapon, you need to know how to use it and keep it sharp. the spirit of rebuke is something to keep on you constantly; i learned that the hard way. in situations where i felt stuck, in situations where i am surrounded by people who don’t understand me, this includes in friend groups and with family, i rebuke constantly. with enough practice, a rebuke can be both cleansing and protective. i use it to clean out old, outdated beliefs and ideas, and to protect myself.
what is the spirit of rebuke?
the definition of rebuke is:
to check, silence, or put down, with reproof; to restrain by expression of disapprobation; to reprehend sharply and summarily; to chide; to reprove; to admonish.
so the spirit of rebuke, and mind you i’m making this up, is where a person is in awareness and they notice when something in their environment, thinking, or aura, is inconsistent with what they want. not ‘bad’, the distinction here is important. just inconsistent. this could be ideas, thoughtforms, opinions, or sentiments. in the mind, they check, silence, restrain those ideas, thoughtforms, opinions, sentiments, with the intent to focus energy on what they want.
when i worked in corporate i used to say i ‘didn’t drink the kool-aid’ with a sense of pride but i wonder : is it possible to do a job well while saying something like this if you’re not at least dipping your tongue in? i might not have been drinking the kool-aid but i was definitely making it. this is a tough position to be in if you’re working for a company that’s in any way taking part in the destruction of this planet or in harming humanity. i am specifically pointing to corporations that fund genocide and align with fascist regimes.
i can understand why, to some people, being well-liked working in certain corporate environments is not a good thing. i’ve gone from being liked and learning what it meant to fuck all that “goodwill” shit up quickly. it happened when i started to move in ways that felt more authentic, and required me to learn to rebuke.
below i’ll talk about the spirit of rebuke when it comes to thinks like distraction, scarcity mindsets and thinking, fear and despair.
here’s where we’re at with this series:
PROTECTION. corporations protect themselves, you need to protect yourself. here we’re talking about secrecy, boundaries, and charming an item.
CLEANSING. any corporate culture lack scarcity mindset shit must be cleansed out of your thinking. you cannot cleanse without protection and you cannot protect without cleansing, so these first two posts go together.
GROUNDING. as someone diagnosed with PTSD from childhood trauma, this one required the help of a therapist because it is and was painful.
SUPPORT. grounding pt 2. loneliness, isolation, when it feels like you have no one.
REBUKE IT. protection and cleansing pt 2. how to create and keep a spirit of rebuke.
PRAYER. protection and cleansing pt 3. corporate culture as constant, communal prayer.
